Name groups

The Test features > Name groups page provides a generated browse view for managing accession name groups. Name groups are codes, tags, or labels that can be assigned to accession names to organize them into categories.

GGCE also uses name groups automatically when accession numbers are assigned or changed. Whenever an accession number is recorded as a SITE accession name on the accession's system inventory, the system links that name to the name group that matches the accession prefix (accessionNumberPart1). Because of this, name groups often correspond to accession prefixes such as IRGC or PI.

Use the filter panel to find the name group you need. Select one or more rows to edit or remove them, or use the floating action button to add a new group. The add and edit dialogs are generated from the name group entity.

For how name groups are used on accession records, see Accession names.

Permission

Name group editing is restricted to users with site-scoped PassportData administrative permission.
