Translations

Two different types of translation are used in GGCE.

GGCE is developed in English, and then translated to Spanish, French, Chinese and Arabic by community members. These translations are fixed, and can only be updated by our software development team.

The other type of translation is the translation of your data. These translations are under your control and are also your responsibility.

Data languages

Start by updating the list of languages (SysLang) for which you wish to maintain translations. You should have at least English and your working language (e.g. French) enabled. Disable the languages that you do not want to use.

MCPD language

GGCE includes a language called MCPD. This language allows you to map and translate your vocabulary terms to their counterparts in MCPD. The translations to MCPD are used in:

  • Exporting passport data in MCPD format
  • Assigning DOIs to accessions using the DOI Registration Service
  • Uploading accession passport data to Genesys
