Our activities in 2023 were focused on further development, documentation, and support to genebanks in evaluation of GGCE. The goal was to bring GGCE into production use in at least two genebanks, and, in the process, design and implement new features directly applicable for use in other genebanks.
GGCE from version 2023.6 provides BrAPI 2.1 and 2.0 endpoints. BrAPI 2.1 is the latest stable release of the standard. This first implementation already allows for downloading trait descriptors to Field Book app for capturing data in the field.
The updated Installation guide documents how to get GGCE up and running on your hardware. Make sure you check the wizard that generates Docker compose files!
The guide also includes information on advanced configuration options, from SMTP and audit log retention, to how to configure the formatting of accession and inventory numbers.

They explain where the GGCE name comes from and what the differences are between GRIN-Global and GGCE.
Documentation on managing genebank's address book is added!
Additional docs on how to navigate GGCE and on seed viability are now avaiable!
GGCE API documentation is available! It describes the overall API design and how to interact with GGCE from your software.
Documenting any software product is a difficult task. We tried a number of options for GGCE documentation in the past. Each of them had specific advantages, but more importantly, all had significant disadvantages.
